Notifications

Notifications handled easily

Overview

Greek Connect sends push notifications to keep members informed about events. Officers can add reminders to an event, and each member controls which notifications they receive.

Event reminders

When creating or editing an event, officers can add up to 4 reminders. Each reminder must use a different trigger, and each is delivered as a push notification.

Triggers

Event start: reminds members the event is coming up. Send it at the start time, or ahead of time — 5, 10, 15, 30, or 45 minutes, or 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 hours, or 1 day before.
Excuse deadline: reminds members before the excuse deadline. Available only when attendance and excuses are enabled. Send 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 hours, or 1 day before the deadline.
Sign-in opens: tells members when sign-in becomes available. Sent at the moment sign-in opens.

Who receives a reminder

A reminder goes to members whose status is included in the event's visibility and who have that notification type turned on. Members who have already acted are skipped — for example, those who already signed in won't get the sign-in reminder, and those who already submitted or have an approved excuse won't get the excuse-deadline reminder.

Member notification settings

Each member chooses which notifications they receive under Settings → Notifications. Event-related options include:

Event Sign In: when an event's sign-in opens, and when you're moved off the waitlist into the RSVP list.
Event Excuse Deadline: when an excuse deadline is approaching.
Event Start: reminders before an event starts.
Excuse Submissions: for officers — when members submit excuses for events you manage.

Other categories such as announcements, polls, and tasks are managed on the same screen.

Delivery

Notifications are delivered as push notifications through the mobile app; tapping one opens the related event.
Push notifications are not available on the web app.
Members can turn each notification type on or off at any time in their settings.
